A shorter, more concentrated festival. This year's event runs seven days instead of the traditional nine, and the second weekend has been eliminated. That means for the first time, a music fan can also drop into a tech panel, or a filmmaker can catch a live showcase, all in the same day. The music festival gains a seventh consecutive night of showcases, and the overall experience is more curated than in previous years.
The clubhouse model. Instead of one massive convention hub, SXSW 2026 introduces three "clubhouses" - dedicated home bases for each programming track:
- Innovation Clubhouse: Brazos Hall, East 4th Street
- Film & TV Clubhouse: 800 Congress, near the Paramount Theatre
- Music Clubhouse: The Downright Hotel, East 7th Street / Red River Cultural District

Hotels and venues become the conference center. In past years, you could plant yourself near the convention center and walk to much of what you needed. That's no longer the case.
