JFK Airport (JFK) Information
JFK Airport is located 15 miles from midtown Manhattan
on Jamaica Bay in the southeastern section of Queens County. JFK covers 4,390 acres
and serves over 80 airlines; it is New York City’s largest airport and the busiest
U.S. airport for international travel. The Central Terminal Area (CTA) has eight
terminals and over 125 gates. Terminal 1 is for international travel and hosts a
variety of airlines, Terminals 2 and 3 are operated by Delta Air Lines, and Terminal
4 is a common-use facility designed to enhance efficiency with consolidated ticketing
and baggage facilities and separate levels for arriving and departing passengers.
Terminal 5, which was formerly operated by TWA is currently closed, JetBlue operates
out of Terminal 6, British Airways and United Airways operate out of terminal 7
and the new Terminal 8 was created by American Airlines.
