F1 Racing Comes to Austin, Texas

The Formula One Grand Prix race will be returning to the United Stated for the first time in five years this Friday, November 16th. The Formula One United States Grand Prix will be held at the newly built Circuit of The Americas racetrack in Austin, Texas.

The event will take place Friday November 16th through Sunday November 18th. Practice runs, and the qualifying race, take place on Friday and Saturday. The qualifying drivers will race at 1:00pm on Sunday, with the race concluding at 3:00pm. Track officials expect all 120,000 spectator spots will be filled throughout the weekend, especially for Sunday’s race.

Austin officials have stated that the three main concerns for the weekend are transportation, public safety, and weather conditions. Along with traffic control, city officials have joined with other departments to ensure the weekend runs smoothly. Spectators should plan to leave very early according to the president of the Circuit of The Americas, Steve Sexton.

If you’re traveling into or out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport this weekend, delays are expected as a result of the high number of visitors. For those using our shared ride service upon arrival, please gather your luggage and head to our customer service counter which is located just past Baggage Carousel 1. Once there, check in with a Customer Service Representative to receive a boarding pass. When your van is ready, you’ll be walked outside to the waiting operator by the CSR.

If you have not yet booked transportation, reservations can be made online while they last. Charters for the weekend may still be available; please contact the local team at aussales@supershuttle.net.

For more information about the airport or where to find us, check out the airport map here.

Overall the event should be one that is exciting and a memorable experience for all as the Grand Prix returns to the United States.

Will there be additional time scheduled for pick-ups for outbound travelers on Saturday, November 9th?

Good question. For shared ride, our recommended outbound pickup times are calculated to adjust for these considerations in advance. You also have the option of requesting an earlier-than-recommended pickup, if you prefer.
