Top 10 Travel Deals for Summer 2014

summer travelWho doesn’t want to travel during summer? Arguably, it’s the best time to travel if you’re looking for sunny weather, tons of free time, and access to some of the most beautiful cities and natural landscapes in the world. The water is nice, the flowers are blooming, and the skies are blue – now that’s a vacation.

While summer is a pricey season for tourism, it’s totally worth it. And to help you get started, we’ve compiled 10 of the best summer deals to make your travel goals a little more attainable this year. We say take the vacation – you deserve it!

Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has been gaining ground as an awesome beach destination if you’re on a tight budget – it’s less expensive than places like Cancun and Cabo, but just as (some may even say more) beautiful! Even better, you can stay in an all-inclusive, five-star resort for around $200 a night. If you want to escape to the road less traveled, Las Terrenas offers pristine beaches in a small village setting. Culture and natural beauty run deep here. Why wouldn’t you want to travel to somewhere new, beautiful, luxurious, and warm, for less than your standard New York or San Francisco vacation? We hear the food is amazing.

Orlando, FL

There’s no better time than this summer to visit Orlando. Hotel rates are down 7%, which gives you some leeway when deciding which theme park to visit. Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios… The “Big Three” offer something for everyone. Or check out something a little more off the beaten path and head over to Gatorland. Wherever you choose to spend your days in Orlando, you can get a great deal on where you spend the night. Check out these travel packages and discounted attraction admissions.

Warsaw

It may sound weird to suggest the capital of Poland for your summer travel itinerary, but hear us out: Warsaw is awesome. And cheap. The airfare will undoubtedly be the most expensive part of the trip, but when you book it in conjunction with a hotel, you can rack up some major discount points. Plus, airfare to Warsaw will still cost a fraction of what it would cost to fly to a city like London, Paris, or Rome. On top of that, hotel rates have gone down 20% this year, cutting out a significant chunk of your travel budget. Food and general cost of living in Warsaw is extremely low compared to their more Western neighbors, but Warsaw is comparable to all the great European cities – stylish, refined, vibrant, and fun!

National Parks

You don’t have to travel out of the country to see some of the most breathtaking views of the world. And because you don’t have to shell out cash for international airfare and accommodations, your wallet will seriously thank you. One of the greatest natural gifts to America is the National Park system. They’re inexpensive to visit, easy to explore, and the sights are unforgettable. Gate 1 Travel offers a great package deal where you can visit National Parks and other natural landmarks of the U.S. for a seriously discounted rate. Choose from escorted tours across many states, which is a bit pricier, or go with a self-guided, multi-day tour that includes hotel rooms, that costs less than an airplane ticket! Sounds like a win-win to us.

Nassau, Bahamas

We really had to double-check this deal, because it looked too good to be true. When you book your Bahamas vacation through Travelocity, you can get a flight to the Bahamas and a three-night stay in an all-inclusive, four-star resort for $1,059. That’s $837 less than normal – a 44% discount! If you decide to book on your own terms, you’ll still get a stellar deal - a Junior Suite Superior Ocean View room, which normally costs $1,014 per night is available at a discounted rate of $456. If you’ve ever wanted to live a life of tropical luxury in the Bahamas, there’s no better time to do it than right now.

Couples-Only Escape in Cancun

Depending on your length of stay, if you book a vacation at Sun Palace Couples-Only All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun, MX, you can receive a resort credit worth up to $2,500! The all-inclusive nature of the resort includes your meals, but the resort credit can be used for just about everything else – extra meals, drinks, golf, spa treatments, scuba diving, upgraded wine selection, a romantic dinner for two, and anything else you can think of! Besides the “free money,” take solace in the fact that the Sun Palace is a gorgeous five-star luxury getaway in the most beautiful area of Cancun’s white sand beaches. They also have a Honeymoon Special Offer for you newlyweds!

We offer private and shared-ride transportation to and from the Cancun International Airport. Click here to learn more.

Venice

Yes, you read that correctly. Venice – as in Italy. Hotel rates are down almost 10% from last year, giving you an incentive to finally cross the city of canals off your bucket list. In a city like Venice, it’s easy to both live it up in full-on luxury, or tone it down and keep to a budget. Because of the city’s great variety, there’s something for everyone – especially those who want a good deal.
TripAdvisor offers a great planning tool to show you how to build your own vacation package on a budget. According to researchers, Venice has been slowly, but surely, sinking over the years, so you better hurry before the city’s submerged!

Myrtle Beach, SC

Myrtle Beach is a seriously underrated vacation destination. Nestled along the coast of South Carolina, Myrtle Beach offers everything a typical vacation calls for – warm ocean waters, some of the best golf in the country, all-you-can-eat southern buffets, and surprising affordability. Pretty much all the hotels in the area offer some incredible discounts, but right now, Sandcastle Oceanfront  Resort – South Beach is offering a three-night, four-day stay with ocean views for just $249. It’s located right in downtown Myrtle Beach, giving you the option to get away for a night on the town, or hang out at the beach and relax.

Last-Minute Cruises

While we advocate advance travel planning to avoid hiccups, being spontaneous and keeping a flexible schedule sometimes has its benefits. Last-minute cruise deals are usually posted within a week of departure. It requires a freed-up schedule, but the prices are the best you’ll find: Want to spend seven nights on a Caribbean cruise for $289 a person? That’s less than you’d spend on one night at a nice hotel on land! What about a seven-night Alaska tour for $352?  Even better, VacationsToGo offers a  price match guarantee, so even you find something cheaper elsewhere, they’ll match it. Quick – time to use up some of those vacation days!

Remember: We offer transportation to and from the most popular cruiseports in New York, California, Florida, and Texas. Click here to get a quote!

Staycation

The best summer travel deals are the ones that require only a little bit of planning, a little bit of time, and a little bit of money. If you need to cut back on costs, treat yourself to a staycation at home. We’re not talking about taking a few days off to lounge around your house and watch Netflix in your PJs – turn it into a real vacation. When’s the last time you explored the city you’re in? Drove a few hours to the nearby town or natural landmark you’ve been wanting to visit but just can’t find the time? Ate at a restaurant you’ve never been to? The best part is, you’ll still be able to visit all your new favorite places you discovered even after you return home from your vacation.

How do you seek out the best travel deals? Is there anywhere special you’re headed off to this summer? Let us know in the comments below!

This is sort of off-topic, but will you guys be switching to the full-size Ford Transit vans since the E-Series vans are being replaced by them this year? http://www.ford.com/commercial-trucks/transitcommercial/ They seem to have more room, use less gas, and unlike the E-Series can seat 15 people with room luggage. They also feature the same propane (and CNG) setups that SuperShuttle is currently using.
