Being picked up last or dropped off first during your shared ride can feel like you’ve hit the jackpot. It’s no surprise that one of the most common questions from our customers is which order they’ll be picked up or dropped off.
Since we can’t guarantee the sequence of pick-up or drop-off in advance of the ride, we want to offer insight as to what makes a passenger first or last, and when you can find out which one you’ll be.
First, Last, or Somewhere in Between?
As a general rule, the closer you are to the airport, the sooner you’ll be dropped off or later you’ll be picked up. Conversely, if you live on the outskirts of your metro area, or if you live in a more remote area of town, it is very likely that you will be consistently picked up first or dropped off last when using us repeatedly.
Of course, even those passengers living on the outskirts of town will sometimes luck out and be the only passenger, be the last pick-up, or have the first drop-off. We’ve even seen people who live very close to the airport be the first picked up or last dropped off because there were that many other passengers closer to the airport than them.
How to Find Out Your Order
Once you’re loaded into the van, you can ask your driver for more details about the ride sequence. Please refrain from asking the driver to change the route, however. Vehicle operators do not create the route that they run and are not able to change sequence, except under unusual circumstances.
Note: Because shared-ride routing is dependent on changing factors, SuperShuttle cannot guarantee in advance when you will be picked up or dropped off.
As we outline in our How it Works page, each time a reservation becomes active for pick-up, our dispatchers work with the system to combine passengers travelling to or from the same general region. This grouping becomes the route, which is then bid out to SuperShuttle franchise owner operators. For rides to the airports, this is completed up to four hours prior to pick-up time. For rides from the airport, it’s created upon passenger check-in at the airport.
If you want to have that “lucky day” feeling of being the only passenger and avoiding additional stops altogether, we recommend booking our private van service, or a private sedan through Execucar. Many customers find the later pickup times, privacy, and overall convenience of private transportation is worth the increased cost.
Whether you’re saving a few extra dollars by spending more time in the van or living it up in a private sedan, we’re here for you. Book today!
