Austin Information
Austin has something for everyone with a wide variety of activities to suit every
interest. Known as the Live Music Capital of the World, you can find something playing
any time of day. The Texas State Capitol, completed in 1886, is one of Austin’s
most popular attractions with more than one million visitors each year and the Bob
Bullock Texas State History Museum tells the state’s story with everything
from rare artifacts to interactive displays. Aquatic lovers can visit Barton Springs,
a three-acre pool fed from underground springs or Highland Lakes for sailing, waterskiing
and other activities. The city also features 10 miles of hiking and biking trails
and the largest population of Mexican free-tail bats in North America, which create
a nightly spectacle in the summer months. Austin is also filled with trendy and
eclectic hotspots such as the Warehouse District, Sixth Street and SoCo, where visitors
can enjoy unique dining and shopping experiences, live music, local art and hip
nightclubs.

Austin-Bergstrom Airport (AUS) Information
Austin-Bergstrom Airport is a multi-use facility meeting the needs of general and
commercial aviation, the State Aircraft Pooling Board, and the Texas Army National
Guard. In fact, AUS is the first U.S. conversion of an Air Force Base to commercial
airport since the end of the Cold War. The main Barbara Jordan Terminal, named after
the late Texas senator and US congresswoman, is 600,000 square feet and has 25 gates
providing non-stop service to 39 cities. Austin-Bergstrom’s parallel runways
are both named after distinguished politicians; the West Runway for late President
Lyndon B. Johnson and the East Runway for former Congressman J.J. "Jake" Pickle.
An outdoor Family Viewing Area is located near the east runway at Austin-Bergstrom
Airport. Nearly one acre has been set aside to provide a vantage point for watching
planes land and take off on the airport's 9,000 foot east runway and providing visitors
with paved parking and picnic tables. AUS is an important part of the community
with over 3,000 employees, a Live Music Stage featuring local performers and local
art throughout the building.
