The Formula One Grand Prix race will be returning to the United Stated for the first time in five years this Friday, November 16th. The Formula One United States Grand Prix will be held at the newly built Circuit of The Americas racetrack in Austin, Texas.
The event will take place Friday November 16th through Sunday November 18th. Practice runs, and the qualifying race, take place on Friday and Saturday. The qualifying drivers will race at 1:00pm on Sunday, with the race concluding at 3:00pm. Track officials expect all 120,000 spectator spots will be filled throughout the weekend, especially for Sunday’s race.
Austin officials have stated that the three main concerns for the weekend are transportation, public safety, and weather conditions. Along with traffic control, city officials have joined with other departments to ensure the weekend runs smoothly. Spectators should plan to leave very early according to the president of the Circuit of The Americas, Steve Sexton.
If you’re traveling into or out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport this weekend, delays are expected as a result of the high number of visitors.
